I've loved the ocean since I was a young child and my family spent summers at the New Jersey shore. I have fond memories of awakening early in the morning and heading down to the beach with my father for a swim. The water was cold and the beach was bright. I can still visualize that ocean sparkling in the early morning sunlight.

A few summers ago I spent a week in Truro on Cape Cod. I wandered the back beach and took photos of the ocean with my digital camera. When I returned to my studio I decided to make paintings from my photos.
